Taking place in the Centre for Contemporary Arts, one of the main arts venues in Glasgow’s city centre, Language Fest is a participatory arts-event which celebrates the multiple languages present in the city. You are invited to participate in arts-workshops and use poetry, music and drama to showcase the sounds, rhythms and emotional undertones of our languages and explore what speaking and learning multiple languages means to our personal lives.
The workshops culminate in an end-of-the-day, multimodal performance on the venue’s main stage – showing off Glasgow’s wealth of languages and communicating the various emotions, opportunities and playfulness bound up in living a multilingual life in Scotland.
Coordinated by researchers and artists on the AHRC-large grant ‘Researching Multilingually’, Language Fest warmly invites everybody to praise and rant about old language learning experiences as well as create new ones on the day.
